December 7-8 – Market Design and Regulation in the Presence of High-Frequency Trading
The goal of the conference was to provide a platform for discussing advances in research related to market design and regulation of high-frequency trading, striking a balance between academic rigor and policy relevance. The conference schedule is here and the presentation abstracts are here.

November 4 – Advances in Firm Valuation
The goal of the workshop was to bring together researchers doing cutting edge theoretical and empirical analysis of how the actions of firms and the workings of financial markets interact to determine the market value of firms.

October 21 – When Milliseconds Matter: Rethinking Data Analysis in Markets Dominated by High Frequency Trading
Distinguished scholars, practitioners and policy makers attended the workshop and gave presentations on the topic from a variety of perspectives. The presentations discussed the impact of high-frequency trading on financial markets, and the extent to which it has been beneficial and detrimental.

April 18 – AMS/CAFIN Workshop And Distinguished Lecture
The Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics (AMS) and the Center for Analytical Finance (CAFIN) held the Spring 2016 AMS/CAFIN Workshop and Distinguished Lecture. May 29 – Systemic Risk: Networks and Bubbles
The workshop brought together academics and policymakers from across the country to UC Santa Cruz. The academic presentations highlighted theoretical and empirical research on systemic risk, networks and bubbles.

May 15 – Market Design: High Frequency Trading
Distinguished scholars, practitioners and policymakers attended the workshop and gave presentations on the topic from a variety of perspectives. April 3 – Financial Access: New Platforms for Finance
The one-day workshop brought together practitioners, policymakers and researchers to assess recent developments in and prospects for creating new technology and institutional platforms for financial markets, with examples including equity crowd funding, online IPO auctions, securitized personal loans, and non-profit finance. April 25 and 26 – Inaugural CAFIN Workshop
The workshop took place on April 25 and 26, 2014, at UC Santa Cruz. It brought together researchers from both academic and policymaking institutions to cover topics CAFIN considers a “Grand Challenge” for the modern global economy: Systemic Risk, Market Design, and Financial Access.
